BIO: I am introducing myself as a southern bell with a twist! I am a single mother of three beautiful children that I call my petites! We live in East Tennessee where I work hard as a surgical technician and a mom. I became a fan of mixed martial arts because my boys were interested in learning how to fight like a “UFC fighter”. I had to know what they were so interested in. I watched a few older fights one night on television and I’ve been hooked ever since. Most nights the entire family is at the gym training in some sort or another. My weekends not on call at the hospital are spent with my family either at a MMA event or out with my main squeeze watching some fights at our favorite stomping grounds.
While I like a lot of stand up styles I am still intrigued especially with jiu jitsu. I myself prefer to not do “ground work” because I am a germaphobe and have a hard time dealing with being on the mats. I love to watch others grapple though. I am able to do enough ground work to learn to defend myself in spite of this challenge.
Eleven years ago I was attacked in my own home. I didn’t know how to defend myself, and was beaten up very badly. I was only able to get away by some sort of instinct inside me that told me to fight back. I bit my attacker in a very painful place and he ran. This is all I remember about that night. The experience was extremely hard to overcome but now I am much stronger physically, mentally, and emotionally. I want others to be stronger also and learn from my experience that they too can move on and not have to live in fear!
